What is Jitter & Ping in an Internet Speed Test?
When checking internet performance, many users only focus on Download Mbps, but connection responsiveness depends heavily on Ping (Latency) and Jitter.
⚡ Ping (Latency in ms)
Ping measures the round-trip time (RTT) it takes for a data packet to travel from your device to the server and back. A ping under 30 ms is ideal for competitive gaming (PUBG, Valorant) and real-time voice calls.
📶 Jitter (Latency Variation in ms)
Jitter measures how consistent your ping is. If ping jumps erratically between 25ms and 140ms, your jitter is high. High jitter results in audio dropouts, frozen video frames, and in-game character warping (rubber-banding). Aim for jitter below 5 ms.
