- Each year, a scholarship with a value of at least $8,000 is given out by a university that is a GEM member.
For PhD Degree:
Employer Fellows
- A stipend of $16,000 will be provided for the duration of one academic year.
- Extra Scholarships, also known as Assistant Scholarships, Grants, and Other Scholarship Dollars Help to get the scholarship money from the GEM Member University up to the same level as the funding for other PhD students in the field who are receiving support.
- A minimum of one paid internship throughout the summer with a GEM employer member.

Citizenship:
- At the time of application, applicants must either be citizens of the United States or permanent residents of the United States.
GRE:
- In order to qualify for the various programmes offered by GEM Member Universities, applicants are strongly encouraged to take the GRE. In the event that test dates and/or GRE scores are already available, applicants will be prompted to furnish them.
For Masters Degree:
- At the time of application, you are required to be enrolled as a senior or to have graduated from an accredited engineering or computer science programme.
- Must maintain an overall grade point average of at least 2.8 out of a possible 4.0.
- Must enter into a legally binding agreement to work as an intern for the sponsoring GEM Employer for a total of two summers, commencing with the summer after sponsorship.
For PhD Degree:
- At the time of application, you need to be a senior, a student working towards a master’s degree, or a graduate of a recognised engineering or applied scientific programme.
- Must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 out of a possible 4.0.
- Must enter into a legally binding agreement to work as a summer intern for a GEM Employer member during the summer immediately following sponsorship.
